Library Genesis, with the current domain of gen.lib.rus.ec is indeed the genesis of library that is filled not only with all kinds of books but also with mirror sites that allow to search for any existing book out there. It is staffed by a Russian population that aims to constantly provide full coverage for all your pdf and eBook needs.
Functionality
Besides being highly functional, the site further possesses the ability to direct the user to many other mirror sites that similarly provide book sharing. Through the categories at the top, you may visit the forum for better instructions on how to use the site, as well as you may require additional mirror sites similarly hosted by staff alike that provide even larger book databases with Bookfi being one of the many popular ones. The search bar increases the effectiveness of finding the right book by allowing the user to select popular genres of articles and eBooks to search through. Upon clicking your preferred article to download, the site redirects you to a lot of information regarding the book, including a list of mirrors to choose from in order to download. It is recommended to always go for the Libgen mirror as that provides a direct link download, while some other mirrors might not function at times. Alternatively clicking the book cover also acts as a download link, choosing the mirror automatically for you. The site basically is a large database that provides different mirrors for all the books out there, including magnet links that at times might not function properly. Unfortunately, what makes the site less efficient is not being able to click a logo to redirect you to the main page, which can be a hassle for users who require faster searching.
Design and Suggestions
The overall design is good enough to provide easy maneuverability through the site. I would suggest that the design in the landing page of a search result be easier understood through better organization of information, as well as adding a simple logo that redirects to the home page would make it much easier to use. Overall, the site provides what it is supposed to: allowing for multiple ways to search for books through numerous mirror sites.

FreeBookSpot is a fairly okay site that provides a lot of choices in eBook and PDF downloads. Unlike other sites of the same genre, it does update books that you might deem rarely used which gives it a larger database. Overall it is well updated although some must-have books are harder to find, or not found at all.

Functionality

I find that providing a lot of ways to search one item is at times very bothering and inefficient. It just takes time especially when the result doesn’t come right away. Functionality-wise the site is not unique in any perspective as well as doesn’t aim to make your visit efficient by providing faster links, instead, it redirects you to the page where you have to click the link, wait a few seconds, click to skip the ad, and then wait half a minute for a download that might not work due to exceeded downloads by users. I think that sites supported by ads are going to go one or two ways: First being that you waste a lot of time and the second being that someone somewhere will get malware on their system through these ads. When coming upon the search results, I find 5 books per page extremely annoying as I have to keep clicking over and over to the next page to find out that the book I am looking for might not be there. The site does provide compact and text view modes for easier viewing, however that does not make it any better when every download redirects you at least 2 times, and furthermore it quickly brings up a pop-up where the main page used to be. Overall it is a very inefficient website in what it provides.

Design and Suggestions

I very much dislike designs that make me feel like I am going to be asked to make a payment in the coming minutes, as well as the fact that the whole page looks like it is showing you an ad that you have to skip. I would highly suggest just keep it simpler, as well as provide books in easier ways so that we don’t get tired of skipping ads.

When talking about Bookfi, the best way is to compare it to a colossal library that takes ages to find the books you are looking for. Now the same concept applies here, with one big difference: It takes a few seconds to find as well as download books. Being one of the largest databases of eBook and PDF downloads; this site redefines free access to information.
Functionality
So the top three little tags you’ll notice are the ‘number of books’, ‘direct links’, and ‘for free’, and let me tell you right now that this site truly delivers. Their database is filled with over 2 million books and while that may seem somehow an okay number when talking about books, the access the user has to these books is completely 100% legitimate. Any user, first time or recurring, will notice the beautifully laid out search bar in the middle of the page that you can use to get to any results. What makes it even more efficient is the Exact Matches searching options that doesn’t look like much but it is actually a life saver. Think of how many books are titles similarly and how a search query will bring up every related result; well, exact matches are for users who more or less know what they are looking for, and even if they don’t know the exact name of the book, they will still know a partial exact word. Upon clicking any search results, you are taken to a friendly-looking information box that provides the title, authors, as well as a short summary of what the book is about. Below that you have three options: Download, Donate, and Read. Amazingly, clicking the Download button DOES NOT REDIRECT you to another site where you click free user, or put a verification code, NOPE. Clicking Download immediately starts your direct download without any additional hanger. Furthermore, clicking Read takes you to a large thumbnail view of each page where you can literally read the book online and then just simply turn the page. This site is amazing.
Design & Suggestions
The design is simply a jaw-dropper. The site delivers what it is intended to, and in a very short time. The search bar is just very attractively put there and it is the only necessary tool you will need, however, if you wish to know more about the books you can always click the Categories or Top books link at the top right. My suggestion is that anyone who can donate to this wonderful site so that their database grows faster and they continue to provide the best eBooks around.

Ebookee is one of the richest databases of free ebooks that allows you to download directly. As all ebook sites it is under violation of copyright laws which is why some popular ebook sites receive bad reviews. In essence, what makes many ebook sites different is only the content found in them as some ebooks are better updated than others.
Functionality
The site numerous categories that you can choose from right at the home screen.  The home screen also shows popular tags for faster browsing, as well as the top downloaded eBooks, recently viewed ones, latest added, as well as user information in regard of who uploads them most. In some cases, uploaders will attach viruses to downloads, while other times they redirect the download to software that installs malicious malware. Overall, the functionality is very good for such a site and the work of uploaders who take their time to help out is appreciated.
Design and Suggestions
The design is rather basic while it still looks attractive for a sharing site. Everything is laid out in a nice way and the coding is pretty solid. A small suggestion would be to add images to books without having to click the link as this would greatly reduce efforts in looking for the right book. In conclusion, this site is very functional and efficient in delivering ebooks and I would recommend it.
